Newsletter Spring 2018

PCC Latest News
Spring 2018

Welcome to the Spring Summer PCC newsletter. We hope that you’re all well and enjoying the warmer weather after a long cold winter. In the past PCC has printed newsletter and we’re planning to now produce them more frequently and share them in an online format. Your feedback on this would, as always, be appreciated.

In the beginning of March our Fostering Agency had our much anticipated Ofsted inspection. On behalf of the Directors and the Fostering Staff thank you to all the carers who worked hard to enable us to demonstrate how we care for the children that are entrusted. I’d also like to thank the carers and children who spoke to the inspector and shared their experiences and perspectives on the work that we do. It was a long week with lots of hard work put in by all the PCC social care team as well as panel members and admin staff. The overall rating was ‘Good’ and we all felt that it was a fair reflection of the work that everyone does. If you want to read the inspection report you can find it here and if you have any thoughts or views on it please get in touch.

As an agency, we’ve had the busiest year on record with the highest number of children placed with PCC foster carers and a wide range of types of placement. Increasingly we’re being asked to care for children and young people with complex needs and parent and child placements which bring their unique challenges and joys. We have seen referrals slow over the winter months which is often the case and are now seeing the number of child referrals increase, though it is noted that a large number of these children have complex needs. If I could reiterate for families to respond as quickly as possible when we send referrals as this can often be the deciding factor for local authorities when they are looking to place quickly.

Thank you to everyone who came to the Easter celebration, it was a resounding success and everybody who came really enjoyed themselves, including all the children. With that in mind we are looking forward to a PCC Trip to Woburn Safari Park, various community events and other PCC get togethers.

Regards
Al Coates
